Independence day on the 6th of December



We started our day with the celebration of our country´s independence. Finland is now 96 years old.

This was easy one.

Comenius day

Wednesday on 20th November we had a Comenius day in our school. We had six different workshops and during the school day every children visited in each workshop. Our pupils were shared in six different group. In each group there were pupils from each class. We found that very effective to improve spirit in our school.

Day was great and pupils seemed to enjoy doing different things. This kind of day is fantastic way to break our routines.

Following there is some pictures of our activities. Ideas are made by our techers.

1. Printing fabric

We printed different flags on fabric.

Finally flags needed to hang and dry.

 Printing was little bit messy, but pupils were carefull.

                        2. Dancing workshop

Children danced simple version of Sevillanas dance. They also danced Virginial real from Scotland.

 

Dances were easy enough to learn in short time.

4. Language workshop

In music workshop we sang Bingo song, Olé óle, learn Three little monkeys nursery rhyme and listen Highland music.

Pedro and Baggy-Alice taught children some foreign language.

 

5. Geography

In geography workshop we had a quiz.

6. P.E. games

First we had to be quick and clever to get handkerchief.
In the second game pupils tried to escape from Mr Wolf.









On thursday girls of 3rd grade were playing "Mr Wolf" on the schoolyard. Enjoy your weekend!

Comenius themed day on November

Comenius day

On 20th November we are going to have a Comenius-themed day in our school. We will have six different workshops where we will learn something about our partners.


Workshops are:

1. Printing fabric

• We will print flags on fabric with Heli and Paula.

2. Music and singing

• We will learn a couple of songs from Spain and Scotland. This activity is lead by Sari and Susanna.

3. Dancing

• We are going to dance one Spanish and one Scottish dance with Minna and Anu.

4. Language

• Olli and Johanna will teach us a little Spanish, English and maybe Gaelic.

5. Geography

• Timo is going to share knowledge about cities of Scotland and Spain.

6. P.E.games

• Jukka will teach one Spanish and one Scottish traditional children´s game.

Niinivaara school

Meeting in Inverness is over and now we are activated with Comenius again. Minna, Anu and Olli had lot of information and new ideas and we will bring this project more familiar to our pupils.

We are planning to have Comenius day on 20th November. We will have different kind of workshops and activities. We are going to share information and habits from our partners from Scotland and Spain. I will show you pictures of our Comenius day later.

We have also made the first part of our Comenius book. 6th grade have done great job with book and translation is now on process.

Every second week we also have a Comenius question for pupils. I will update the latest question when we have the new one.
